Last night, Bug's Daddy stopped by the house to pay a visit. Bug got some new clothes over the weekend and she wanted to show them off for her daddy. She tried on so many clothes trying to see which dress had the best twirl.
Bug: So who wants to tell me how pretty I am?
Daddy: I think you are so pretty baby.
Me: You are the prettiest little girl I have ever seen.
Bug: No momma! I didn't tell you that you could tell me I was pretty. Now whoever smiles the best, can tell me next. Let me see those smiles!
(Jamie and I grinning from ear to ear trying to be the winner)
Bug: Ummm ... well Mommy you do have a pretty smile, but Daddy's is the best! Now Daddy, tell me how pretty I am.
(And she proceeds to dance and twirl while Daddy tells her just how pretty she is)
Kaylie Bug is a smart, funny, empathetic little 3 year old. She says so many things that just need to be written down. This is her mother's attempt to capture some of her wit and wisdom.

Lily the Cat
So Terri Berry calls one day and tells me that she has cornered a kitten and she wants to bring it to my house for safe keeping. I tell her that it is fine with me but the cat will have to live outside, but Bug and I will take care of it.
Bug is so excited at the prospect of taking care of a cat. She decides that she wants to name the cat Lily. About an hour Terri Berry brings over the cat. We carefully take the kitten, which has been housed in a make shift box, to the back yard. We remove the lid, all talking to the cat the whole time in our "there's a baby animal so I need to be high pitched and squeaky" voices. As soon as the lid is removed, the cat, now named Lily, proceeds to leave the box, run across the yard, climb the fence and disappear. Well darn! Bug is upset to see Lily go, but we tell her that she will be back soon.
So fast forward a few months later, we pull into the driveway and a cat runs across the driveway. I see her! Bug sees her! Sure enough, it is Lily.
Bug: Mommy look it is Lily O'Sullivan!
Me: What?!
Bug: Yeah Mommy, that is our cat - Lily O'Sullivan.
Well, ok!

Procrastination
I don't know much about kids. I have really only ever been around mine. I say that to say this: My kid is the slowest person ever! She takes her time with everything! She is a slow eater, slow to pick up toys, slow to get dressed, etc! Just slow!
Well, since I am late every single morning of my life, one day we were working on trying to get out of the door. She was upset because I was "rushing" her.
Me: Bug! Come on! Mama is going to be late for work!
Bug: Come hold me! I can't walk anymore. My legs hurt!
Me: Bug quit crying and come on!
Bug: Fine! I will quit crying for now, but I am just going to make more!
So, at this, what other choice did I have but to pick her up and take her to the car. In fact, that day, she did make more tears!

Oh yeah, well I can run in triangles!
So one of Bug's favorite people in the whole world is her Terri Berry! Terri Berry does everything her Bug asks of her and rarely says no. So one days they were outside playing and being the antagonist that Terri Berry is, she was bragging about what all she could do and Bug couldn't.
(Bug counting the pine cones ... in Spanish!)
TBerry: Hey Bug! Guess what? I can run circles around you!
Bug: Well I can run in triangles and count in Spanish!
Terri Berry didn't have much to say after that.

Am I broken?
This is a story from when Bug was about 2. A little background: In our house, we call a girl's private area a toot toot.
So, bug was taking her nightly bath and Jess and I were chatting about this and that while she played. At one point, we noticed Bug had a sad face.
Jess: Bug, what is the matter?
Bug: My toot toot is broken!!
Jess: Why is it broken?
Bug: It has a hole in it!
Bug proceeds to cry while we proceed to stifle giggles!

Desperately Seeking White High Heels
My friend Meg, Bug, and I were in the car and Meg was talking about her upcoming engagement. We all knew Meg's engagement was right around the corner, we just didn't know when.
Bug: Meg, do you have a baby in your tummy?
Meg: No.
Bug: Why?
Meg: I am not married yet.
Bug: Who are you going to marry?
Meg: Ryan. You remember Ryan?
Bug: Well when you get married I will be your flower girl. I will wear white high heels and a pretty dress. Mom - I am going to be in Meg's wedding and we need white high heels. Let's go get them now!
Me: Bug, let's wait to be asked to be in Meg's wedding before we plan our outfit!
In her Environment
Bug is a planner. She has to plan all aspects of her day. One day when we were in the car driving to pre-school, I asked her what she would like to do that day when we got home from school.
Me: Bug, what would you like to do when you get home from school?
Bug: Ummm...I would like to watch Mulan in my own environment!
Me: Did you just say that you would like to watch Mulan in your environment?
Bug: Yes, is that ok?
Me: Yup! Can do!
Now of course this just meant watching Mulan on the couch, but to her, it was in her environment!

A Little History!
So I am not a writer by any means, but everyone has told me that I need to write down everything my Bug says. She is funny, she is sweet, and she is silly. Some of the stuff she says is so stinking hilarious! So here is my attempt at copying down her tales. This is something I should have started when she was 1 and just beginning to come up with her stories, but again, not a writer and it didn't occur to me to try this until she was 3!
